Dior: Designer of Dreams

I recently visited the V&A Museum in London to see the Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition. Dior is a brand which I really love and the exhibition perfectly showcased the evolution of the house and how it has changed under the control of each creative director.

The classic ‘new look’ silhouette which is synonymous with Dior has such a romantic feel to it which emphasises and celebrates the female body. It was interesting to see how this silhouette not only changed in accordance with each designer but also with social norms such as the ideal perceived body shape. For example, Christian Dior’s original designs were created to a much larger sample size than those of John Galliano’s in the 1990’s, which in turn have a totally different feel to the more relaxed fit of current director, Maria Gratzia Chiuri’s, RTW designs which are made for the busy, modern day woman.

I would highly recommend a trip to the exhibition to anyone who loves fashion , each room is unique and immersive, you can easily spend hours gazing at every piece.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have visited the exhibition and loved it as much as I did.
