Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation review

Apologies for not posting in so long! I feel like October was a very busy month which just flew by this year and, as a result, unfortunately my blog took a bit of a back seat! But hopefully I can find some more time this month (even if we are already halfway through… woops!) as I’ve got soo many ideas for blog posts I want to write.

Anyway, onto the main focus of this post which is the new(ish) Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. I know I’m very late to the party with this review as the collection was released back in September, however I did purchase it in the middle of October and wanted to be able to fully test the foundation before giving you my thoughts on it.

I absolutely love the fact that the foundation is available in such a vast range of shades as well as variation on the warmth of the tones, which is so uncommon to find from other brands! I bought the shade 150 Neutral, I was deliberating for ages between this shade and 140 which is the Warm tone (it seems silly to have spend so long trying to decide when you actually see the minimal difference between the two!). I eventually decided the neutral tone would better suit my complexion at the moment and then the warmer version would be better as the seasons start to change and we come into Spring/Summer again. I think it’s great that you are given this option and I can definitely see myself buying different shades of this foundation as the weather changes and I develop more of a tan.

I was initially quite underwhelmed by the foundation the first time I applied it. The coloured matched my skin well however the application was patchy and didn’t wear well throughout the day, especially around my nose and T-zone were it looked to have worn off. I was really disappointed because I’d watched and read so many good reviews from other beauty bloggers who all raved about it!

Nevertheless I persevered (I was determined to get my money’s worth! haha) and tried applying it with a damp beauty blender instead of my Real Techniques buffing brush which is my usual go-to. Instant success! The coverage was so much better, not patchy at all, and definitely gave a ‘filt’r’, airbrushed look to my skin! It lasted all day when I used the beauty blender with minimal wear and I’ve found that I don’t have to set it with a powder either; usually an essential to my makeup routine as I have oily skin. It stays matte without being drying and blends into the skin beautifully!

After first doubting the foundation I would now definitely recommend it and have had compliments on my skin when wearing it. I now really want to try some of the other products from the Fenty range- I’ve got my eye on the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters!

Let me know if you’ve tried any Fenty products and which ones are your fave?
